The bureau, Bernama's 14th and newest, was opened by Information Ministry Deputy Secretary-General Datuk Muhamad Mustapha on behalf of Deputy Information Minister Datuk Zainuddin Maidin.

It began news, photo and audio visual coverage of events in this federal government administrative centre and areas in its vicinity on June 1.

General manager Datuk Syed Jamil Syed Jaafar and editor-in-chief Jaafar Hussin were among senior Bernama officials at the function.

Editors of the various newspapers, heads of department and press secretaries were present.

The Bernama Putrajaya bureau chief is Abdul Muin Abdul Majid. He is assisted by reporters Mohamad Rizal Razalli and Sharipah Hunaini Syed Ismail, and photographer Shaifuldin Ahmad.
